Emily Vernon, Finance Director Today, we’re delighted to introduce you to the new Commhoist Group Finance Director, Emily Vernon. Emily joins the team with significant experience as a commercially focused Finance Director covering a range of both SME and blue-chip businesses. Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2005, Emily has worked in various senior finance roles in Facilities Management, Retail, and Manufacturing sectors.

In today’s article we learn a little more about not just the professional Emily but also the Emily outside of the world of finance.

Emily, it’s great to have you with us. Tell us what do you believe you’ll bring to the role and the finance team at Commhoist Group?

Firstly, let me say how delighted I am to be here, it’s a really exciting time for Commhoist Group and I’m looking forward to the contribution that the finance team will make to the growth of the company. I believe I bring focus, positivity and a fast-paced approach to my work. It’s really important to me that as a finance team, we don’t just report on past performance but also that we add true commercial value helping improve business performance in the future. I’m looking forward to the variety that the role brings. Working with lots of different businesses and people, both internally and externally, on interesting projects and initiatives. I can genuinely say that every day is different, and what is it that they say, ‘variety is the spice of life!’

Now we know a little about the professional side of Emily, let’s dig a little into the personal side of Emily. Who is Emily and what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I was born in Northwich, Cheshire and I live in Northwich today. I have moved about in between though. I have a husband, Lee and two children, named Thomas and Edward. Plus, a very large and very loving dog called Doug who is a Hungarian Vizsla (I highly recommend the breed to any dog lovers; he is fab!)

In my spare time I love to get outdoors. I love walking and kayaking and feel lucky to live nestled between beautiful North Wales, the Peak District and the Lake District. I’ve done the National Three Peaks Challenge which was amazing and painful in equal measure. I also love cooking, with a glass of wine to hand, and reading, with a glass of wine to hand! Oh, and I’m learning to speak Spanish! Hola!

And finally, tell us something about you that surprises people?

I’ve never in my life eaten Tomato Ketchup, I have a serious phobia about the stuff.

We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Emily to team Commhoist Group, we’re excited for the financial journey Emily and her team are going to navigate us through. Keep your eyes peeled for more from Emily over the coming months.
